Consequently, 75% of developers are adjusting their skills in anticipation of this transformation. As the nature of development work evolves, companies must adapt their hiring and upskilling strategies to remain competitive in the AI-driven market.

Personally, I use ChatGPT for retrieving information or code snippets while coding, and I find it way more efficient than traditional search engines. AI’s potential lies in augmenting developers’ skills rather than replacing them.”
Surging Demand for AI Skills and the AI Skills Gap
The report highlights a growing demand for AI-centered skill sets among employers. Since ChatGPT’s public launch in November 2022, the creation of new assessments with AI-related questions on HackerRank’s platform has increased by 81%.
However, an AI skills gap has emerged between the skills companies need and the skills they’re testing in potential hires. In-demand skills for AI-related roles include machine learning, Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, deep learning, and AWS, but companies continue to test for general and conceptual topics like problem-solving and statistics.
