Empowering Users with Chat History Control
OpenAI has introduced the much-awaited feature of disabling chat history in ChatGPT. This allows users to decide which of their conversations are used to train and improve the AI models. When the chat history is disabled, these conversations will not appear in the history sidebar, giving users an easier way to manage their data than the existing opt-out process.
However, to monitor for abuse, new conversations will still be retained for 30 days before being permanently deleted when chat history is off. These controls are rolling out to all users and can be altered at any time in the ChatGPT’s settings.
Introducing ChatGPT Business Subscription
To further cater to the needs of professionals and enterprises, OpenAI is developing a new ChatGPT Business subscription. This new offering is for those who need more control over their data and wish to manage their end-users effectively.
ChatGPT Business will adhere to the API’s data usage policies, meaning end users’ data will not be used to train the AI models by default. This service is planned to be launched in the upcoming months, promising more control to the users over their data.
Simplified Data Export Option
In a bid to increase transparency and user control, OpenAI has also introduced a new Export option in settings. This feature simplifies the process of exporting ChatGPT data and understanding the kind of information ChatGPT stores.
Users can now receive a file with their conversations and all other relevant data via email. This new feature aims to make it easier for users to access and review their data, reinforcing OpenAI’s commitment to transparency and user control.
